Getting Paid: Wages are paid weekly on Wednesday night.
All new and returning employees must supply their bank account details and IRD number.
Food & Accommodation: $70/week gets you 7 nights’ accommodation at either base and 3 meals a day. Staff may be required to share a bedroom with other employees but we'll try to give couples their own room with a double bed! Breakfast: Taumarunui Base: Served at 5.00am and vans leave at 5.15am Taihape Base: Served at 5.30am and vans leave at 5.45am Lunch: Provided at shed during lunch break Dinner: Served hot at 6-6.30 pm at both bases
Children & Pets: Pets are not permitted at MSL base quarters or at client properties. Children are not permitted to come to work with any worker unless the Operations Manager has approved these visits first.
On the Job:
All employees must bring their own cup and towel to work every day.
Shearing starts as soon as possible after arrival at the shed.
Shearers work to the Team Leader’s clock; do not stop on your time
Cut TITS and HAMSTRINGS must be rattled and reported to the Team Leader.
Employees are not to confront the client but to approach the Team Leader with any problems.
Health & Safety:
Stealing, vandalism & tagging of MSL, other employees and client property is not tolerated and may result in dismissal.
Staff are expected to show up for work in a condition that enables them to perform their job safely and competently.
Drug use is not tolerated at MSL. Anyone caught using drugs may be dismissed.
Alcohol is not to be consumed during work hours.
Any employee suspected of being under the influence may be required to submit a breath test.
Team leaders are required to take a breath test every morning and return a reading of less than 200mg/L of breath.
